Years and Years

Nadia Marquard Otzen grew up with a camera close at hand, her background in photography and fine art shaping a directing practice that marries raw authenticity with creative invention. She finds emotional truth in the tension between what’s real and what’s imagined, a distinct approach that’s quickly become her signature.

Her debut, the experimental film album Black Summer for The Pony Tales, an eerie portrait of delinquent youths on the Faroe Islands, opened CPH:DOX to wide acclaim and set the tone for her music videos and commercial work alike. Working with brands like Levi’s, Netflix, and IKEA, Nadia stays tuned to those fleeting moments of lyricism.
