Sandra Winther is an award-winning Danish director known for her authentic, vibrant documentary storytelling that centres on the human experience. A passionate surfer whose quest for waves has taken her around the globe, she approaches filmmaking with the same exploratory spirit: endlessly curious and deeply respectful of her subjects.

Her work spans commercial collaborations with Nike, Adidas, Toyota, and Samsung, editorial films for Vogue Scandinavia, and documentary shorts, including ‘A New Wave’. Released by The New York Times, the film is an intimate profile of South African surfer Mikey February. Her powerful debut feature ‘Lowland Kids’ follows a community facing the disappearance of their home on the Louisiana island of Isle de Jean Charles, filmed over several years through a hurricane and the family's eventual relocation. Produced by Darren Aronofsky's Protozoa Pictures, the film premiered at international festivals, including CPH:DOX and Sheffield DocFest.
