Jonas Bang
With a camera in hand since childhood, Jonas Bang’s lifelong focus on the aesthetic got off to the earliest of starts. Today, the Danish director has carried his fascination with image into a flourishing career in commercials, campaigns and music videos, often with a raw and poetic touch.
Jonas just directed his first South Korean campaign featuring Netflix star Go Minsi for A Twosome Place and other recent work has included clients like Mercedes-Benz, IKEA, Lindex, Rekorderlig for Molson Coors and the Finnish national railway company VR, as well as a string of videos for artists like universal pop icon MØ, electronic music pioneer Trentemøller and underground punk legends Iceage, the ladder featuring Triangle of Sadness-actor Zlatko Buric.
Jonas also directs renowned 16mm live videos through Brodie Sessions, where he worked with numerous international artists such as Finneas, Nils Frahm, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Oliver Sim of The XX, José Gonzales, MØ, Adrianne Lenker, Alice Phoebe Lou and 2022 grammy award winner Arooj Aftab.
Jonas's style is playful and marked out by his incredible eye for details, with respect to everything from cinematic style to an incredible ear for music. His most recent short Birth of Oshun (directed together with American painter Harmonia Rosales) is questioning our perception of beauty by interpreting Botticelli's Venus character in new ways. The film got nominated for Best Art Film at the 2023 Young Directors Award at The Cannes Film Festival.
