Behind Closed Doors
Libby Burke Wilde
Information
Libby Burke Wilde
Libby Burke Wilde is a Lancashire-born director and photographer based in Manchester, drawn to the lives that often don't make it to screen. With a background in photography and music videos, working with artists including Arctic Monkeys, Lewis Capaldi, and Arlo Parks, she moved into narrative and documentary work driven by a conviction that the right story, told honestly, can effect change.
Her BBC short film series puts real people at the centre, filmed in their own homes and everyday environments. Other recent work includes ‘Early Twenties’, a cinematic interpretation of Cat Burns' coming-of-age album exploring mental health, friendship, queer love, and loneliness, and ‘Behind Closed Doors’, her second film for domestic abuse charity The First Step, shining a light on coercive control through the stories of survivors. She is currently developing her first feature with writer Holly Robinson.
