Based in London, but originally from Lancashire, director Libby Burke Wilde’s work crosses over between striking narrative commercials and films with cinematic and emotionally-driven documentaries. Motivated by the power of storytelling to drive social change, her work immerses her audience in new worlds and subcultures, and is often focused on translating human stories into engaging portraits and narratives that shine light on socially complex topics.

Her short film ABSENT, created in partnership with the charity Freedom4girls to address stigmas around period poverty, won Gold at Kinsale for ‘Best Short Film Under 5 Minutes’, and went on to win two Silver Screen Awards at 2020’s Young Directors Awards, alongside a string of other accolades.

Most recently Libby collaborated with the Greater London Authority to craft a new cinema and TV campaign for TFL. Told entirely from the point of view of someone who has been hit by a car in a 20mph zone, we see the driver pleading his case to paramedics and the victim himself. Libby’s attention to casting and performance gives the audience a dynamic range of emotions in 40 seconds.
