BIJI: A Sonic Revolution for Kurdish Hip Hop
with Maceo Frost
March 28, 2025

‘When you’re unapologetically yourself, it breaks through the noise‘ — Maceo Frost.

Back where it all began, Maceo Frost takes home Best Music Video of the year at the Swedish Grammis for BIJI's latest, the explosive Zigidi. The successes don't stop there, however, after the film also won Best Music Video at the SXSW Film & TV Festival earlier this month.

Formed of Maceo Frost and Robin Nazari, BIJI are shaping a new era for Kurdish Hip Hop. They recently sat down with DAZED to talk about where it all began, from the sonic symbols of the curated discography, to the essence which binds hip hop and Kurdish culture together.
